Choosing Bali as one of our honeymoon destinations was a no-brainer. We already knew that this country is a tropical paradise but what we discovered on our trip was that it is also a magical blend of culture, nature, food, and nightlife. And, since we had planned a trip of nine days in Bali, we got to do a plethora of things. From exploring Bali’s stupendous day and night beach clubs to snorkelling at one of the best points of the world, Divij, my husband, and I explored this gem of a place and bonded like never before!

Everything You Need to Know About Honeymooning in Bali

Ubud, Bali

The first destination on our list was Ubud. My husband had researched well and had planned 3 balanced days for us there. We started the trip by exploring famous beach cafes, day clubs, and restaurants like Folk Pool & Garden, Cretya Ubud, Suka Espresso, etc. In those 3 days, we also did adventure activities like riding the ATV and paying a visit to the Monkey Forest.

Where we stayed: Best Western Premier Agung Resort Ubud

Seminyak, Bali

As a young couple, we were excited to go to Seminyak because it’s well-known for parties. We visited the most talked about places for lunches and dinners like Kynd Community, Finns Beach Club, La Favela, etc. Seminyak does not have any adventure activities so all we did was eat lots of food and try tons of cocktails!

Where we stayed: Ramada Encore by Wyndham Bali Seminyak

Nusa Penida Island

Lastly, we took a ferry from Seminyak to Nusa Penida Island where we had planned to stay for 2 days. We stayed at the Semabu Hills Hotel which is a stupendous property in Nusa Penida. The folks at Semabu Hills also planned a special floating breakfast for us since we were on our honeymoon!

Nusa Penida is the perfect destination for recharging and disconnecting from the world. On this island, my husband and I opted for a snorkelling experience through the Mambo Dive Resort. The folks were accommodating and took great care of me in the water because I don’t know how to swim. I cannot recommend them enough for a beautiful snorkelling or diving experience!

The highlight of my honeymoon has to be the snorkelling experience. Within the first five minutes of being in the water, we encountered a giant manta ray and on the second point, we saw sea turtles, both of which are rare, and not everyone gets to come across them!

On Budget

Bali is cheap compared to a lot of other countries. The same budget that you’ll spend on a European destination for a 3-day trip is good enough for spending 9-10 days in Bali!

Our spend: INR 2,50,000 including the hotels.

How to Travel Everyday

The quickest way to travel around Bali is on a scooter. It’s convenient and cost-efficient. Another way to travel there is by hailing a cab through the apps but we preferred travelling everywhere in a scooter. We could not only enjoy the weather but also reach everywhere much faster!

Best Time To Go

April to September is what everyone will suggest when you tell them that you’re planning a trip to Bali. But, we went in January and still had an absolute blast. We were told that January is off-season and that we’ll experience heavy rainfall. However, there were an adequate number of people and the rain only occurred during the night time.

Must Try Things

Snorkelling- LIFE CHANGING. Absolutely should try even if you don’t know how to swim (like me). We went through the Mambo Dive Resort and got the best treatment. They made sure that I felt safe in the water and had the best snorkelling experience.

ATV Ride- fun experience for couples who enjoy driving!

Pub Hopping- as lame and old as it sounds, Bali is extremely fun and it gets only better when you’re hopping from one pub after the other!

Local Chips & Beer- Bali has the BEST chips and beer. From flavours like chicken, shrimp, and cuttlefish to choose from, you’ve got plenty of yummy options!

Oh, and don’t even get me started on the beer!

Must Visit Restaurants & Clubs

Day Beach Clubs- Cretya Ubud, Finns Beach Club, Tis Cafe Ubud.

Lunch & Dinner Places: Folk Pool & Gardens, Kynd Community, Suka Espresso, Mambo Dive Resort.

Pro Tip:

  • Everything in Ubud shuts down by 10 PM so eat on time and always, always have packets of chips with you for those late-night hunger pangs.
  • We felt like 3 days were a lot in Seminyak considering that all you can do there is eat and drink. 2 days are more than enough to have a great time there.
  • Bali is humid so don’t put on a lot of makeup or you’re gonna regret it big time!
  • Carry a bug spray when in Nusa Penida. There are insects so it's always good to be on the safer side.
  • At no cost step out without applying sunscreen. We came back three shades darker!
