The moment we hear someone say 'Maldives', we can already picture the dreamiest overwater villas surrounded by glimmering gold sands, azure skies & basically, a perfect beachy destination for a romantic honeymoon. But when a couple decided to solemnize their love at a picturesque private island in the Maldives, we already knew it was a rarity! What we discovered later was the fact that the Maldives is an equally exotic destination for a wedding.

Meet Nikita (Co-founder at Wedding Decor company, Noor) & Nakul (Founder at Darveys.com), the adorable couple who celebrated their four-day long wedding shenanigans at Furaveri Resorts & Spa, the Maldives with enough splendour & joy. Everything about their celebrations, right from decorations to their outfits, was extraordinarily impressive. Being a decorator herself, Nikita made sure the skilled team of Noor did full justice to her big day. Whether it was the flamboyant outdoor mehndi or the dazzling reception bash, there were throughout whimsical elements to ogle at. What made it all the more irresistible was the groom's entry on a private yacht, the couple's dreamy portraits and obviously the bride's chirpiness.

The photography by the ace team of Infinite Memories was just on point and we loved how every shot was captured so aesthetically!

Enchanting Wedding Shenanigans of Nikita & Nakul

Rustic Engagement

Commencing their fun-filled wedding extravaganza, Nikita & Nakul hosted a lavish engagement ceremony at the picturesque property of Furaveri Resort & Spa, Maldives. The private island was beautifully trimmed in hues of green & white. Keeping the essence of the night all rustic & crude, the ace crew of Noor prettified the venue with a handful of decorative elements without overpowering the beauty of the island. While a huge wooden installation with the couple's initials & some fancy adornments was put up in a corner for the guests to take unlimited pictures, the entrance area was perked up with a simplistic floral arch. The table settings & chair decorations were also kept all basic, just how the couple wanted it to be.

Leaving us impressed right from the beginning of their wedding ceremonies, Nikita and Nakul made a dhamakedaar entry on their Engagement with all the dholwalas by their side. Nikita looked all impressive in her deep green sculpted gown from Gaurav Gupta which she elegantly paired with delicate diamond earrings, a glimmering bangle and a cocktail ring. For the final touches, she topped off her look with a subtle & dewy makeup, nude lips & a puffed ponytail. Nakul, on the other hand, looked all crisp & sharp in his classic black Rohit Gandhi & Rahul Khanna tuxedo.

Flamboyant Mehndi

Followed by the dazzling engagement night, the mehndi ceremony too was an outdoor affair & had a very tropical & elegant feel to it. The venue was brought to life with whimsical elements like floral centrepieces, comfy sofa seatings, playful chair decorations & a rustic photobooth put up by the beachside. The beauteous mehndi seating curated with a bunch of colorful flowers intertwined with rustic tree branches too added a pop of colour to their Mehndi proceedings & made for a great photo opp. All in all, the decor was a major highlight from their Mehndi. A lot of water sports & fun activities were also planned for the day to keep the guests entertained. However, what left us the most smitten were the bride & groom's refreshing Mehndi looks.

Playing their outfit game strong, Nikita & Nakul clad themselves in svelte pastel hued outfits for the Mehndi. While Nakul picked an ever-so-raging white kurta-pajama and paired it up with a printed powder blue nehru jacket, Nikita too left no stone unturned in putting her fashion foot forward. She wore an ivory Tamanna Punjabi Kapoor ensemble detailed with floral embroideries and fashioned her look with vibrant floral jewels & a dazzling meenakari matha patti. We loved how a loosely tied braid, red lips and a pop of green for the lids rounded off her look.

Scintillating Sangeet

To get everyone into the festive mood and have them flaunting their grooviest moves, a glam sangeet was just the perfect bash. It witnessed a myriad of choreographed performances by both the ladkewalas & ladkiwalas. The stage was beautifully lit up and the sitting lounges were exquisitely done with pristine white table linens & striking chair decorations. A photo backdrop adorned with pink florals was also put up at the beachside. Also, not to miss out on the cutesy floral centrepieces that decked up the tables.

For the Sangeet, the lovely duo again swore by a pretty powder green hue with a hint of metallics and made for a fashion-savvy couple. Nikita looked every bit stunning in her alluring powder green lehenga, embellished in silver accents from top to bottom. Keeping her jewels to minimal, she let her open tresses, beaming face & nude lips do all the talking. Nakul whereas, opted for a metallic touch green Bandhgala with a pair of ivroy pants and printed shoes.

Zesty Haldi & Chooda

Nikita and Nakul ringed in their wedding day celebrations with a joyous haldi (separately) followed by the auspicious chooda and kaleera ceremony at the bride's side. It was an equally fun-filled affair for both the families. While the groom tribe got all playful and had a blast smearing Nakul's face with turmeric paste, the bride's squad, on the other hand, experienced a mixed platter of emotions throughout the rituals.

Clad in an orange kurta with a pair of ivory churidaars, Nakul truly made for a desi groom on his haldi ceremony. Nikita too radiated in a sunshining yellow kurta paired up with a pair of printed ghararas. She steered clear of any 'Taam Jhaam' for her haldi & chooda rituals and instead opted for a no makeup look with half tied hair.

The Beautiful Wedding

Surrounded by the surreal beachy backdrops, serene waters, refreshing greens & some ogle-worthy decorations, Nikita & Nakul exchanged their vows during sunset in the most picturesque setup. The wedding decor saw popping hues of pink decking up the island yet keeping its beauty intact. The mandap was curated with blush pink drapes, a huge chandelier in the centre and a bunch of fresh pink blooms bordering the mandap roof. The sitting lounges again had minimal decorations with only a few pink ribbons tied at the back of the wooden chairs and white linen spread across the tables.

Keeping in sync with the opulence of their wedding decorations, Nakul & Nikita made a remarkable entry to their wedding venue. While Nikita made a gripping entry under a beautiful phoolon ki chaadar with her girlies, the groom took it to another level and made a royal entry on a yacht & danced his way to the mandap.

After witnessing her go all minimal yet elegant with most of her looks, Nikita's OTT wedding day look came as a complete surprise package for us. She looked utterly gorgeous in her ravishing red lehenga perfectly teamed with a set of glimmering polki jewels. While a dazzling princess necklace and an elongated haar layered her neck, an elaborate mathapatti crowned her hair. Complememnting her look further, with just the right kind of makeup & hair, she kept her face subtle & dewy with dramatic smokey eyes, nude lips and a centre-parted floral bun. Nakul too made for a debonair groom in his dusty pink sherwani from Rohit Bal and accessorised it with a matching stole & white safa.

Grand Reception

The reception was undeniably the showstopper of their boisterous wedding revelries. The decorations for the night were par excellence with all sorts of floral arrangements, lights, drapes & other fancy elements adding to the charm of the interiors. Every nook & corner was elaborately detailed. While the entry passage was bedecked with a lot of sequinned strings, offbeat floral vases & flowy drapes, the entrance of the hall was adorned with floral arches, huge tree installations & never-seen-before chandeliers. The sitting lounges were amped up with ivory drapes, lacy chair decorations & some stunning centrepieces. The stage was yet another highlight of the ceremony with an all floral backdrop, a larger-than-life floral chandelier and some cutesy floral installations outlining it. With so many drool-worthy elements in just one ceremony, it was hard to not fall for all. Nikita & Nakul indeed saved the best for the last!

Coming to their reception looks, they were just as beguiling as the reception setup. Nikita sizzled in a glamorous Falguni Shane Peacock lehenga. For the jewellery, she picked out a pretty polki choker, a regal rani haar with matching earrings and a bespoke chand baali maang tikka. Her makeup was just on point with a soft pink color for the lips, fluttery lashes and some amount of sheen for the cheeks. But our favorite highlight from her look was her messy bun which she beautifully tucked with red roses on one side. Nakul whereas picked a classic black tuxedo with distinctive lapels and looked all debonair.

How They Met

It was an arranged marriage but nothing about this wedding felt like one. The bride narrates, "We met and after a couple of dates, conversations and not being able to keep apart, we knew this was meant to be. Everything fell in place after and we ourselves were surprised how smooth everything went on, despite hearing number of 'Shaadi' stories from everyone of how things eventually turn out to be different from what you've imagined."
