To all the winter brides out there- we know very well that you're worried about not just setting a statement with your bridal ensemble, but also looking to brave the chilly season throughout your wedding night. It's a task, that's for sure. But it's not a very tough one.

This year's winter season is predicted to be even more chilly than last years, so you'll definitely be coming face to face with chilly, dewy wedding nights. Fortunately, this is also the season to embrace dark, breathtaking colours and look beautiful, fashionable and photo-ready for every function that you are to grace as the bride! From sleeves to capes, and traditional necklines to statement extras, the winter months are the time to have fun with fashion—especially given that cooler temperatures make it easy to layer up, and style yourself with a bit more oomph than the effortless spring and summer months.

So, team ShaadiSaga has paired up with our favourite Wedding Stylist & Personal Shopper, Meha Bhargava, founder of Styl.Inc. to help all Autumn-Winter brides with their wedding outfit shopping. Scroll down below to check out all the tips and tricks one should keep in mind while shopping for the winter wedding season!

Tips & Tricks For Your Winter Wedding Bridal Shopping

As we all already know, 2020 was not the year of grand, larger than life, weddings. It has been a year of close-knit affairs, intimate settings and brides that have carefully invested in their ensembles to add that much needed 'wow' factor to their celebrations. And honestly, we believe that even if you're having an intimate wedding, it shouldn't stop you from pulling out the most fashionable outfit for your wedding!

"Though bridal trends tend to vary every season, 2020 has been a very unique year," says Meha Bhargava, "For this year, a few old trends have sustained, and not much has changed in terms of fashion due to the pandemic and its repercussions. Thus, if you're an Autumn -Winter bride, you can make a statement with a unique coloured lehenga, or go for minimal makeup, or even standout in understated jewellery!"

The point is to look unique on your d-day and catch the eyes on all those in attendance. So, to ensure that you can walk to your mandap in a stunning ensemble while ensuring comfort and style, here are a few tips to keep in mind:

1. Minimal Is In!

"This year is all about minimalism, hence less of heavy embroideries and more of trendy silhouettes are in," says Meha. If you're not looking to wear heavy embroidery, but you wish to look glamourous nonetheless, then you could always opt for banarasi prints and brocades. And if prints are not what you enjoy, then go in for outfits where you can mix and match different complementing colours.

Speaking about colours, Bhargava adds, "You could wear the Pantone colour of the year i.e classic blue, and stand out without fail."

2. Choose A Cool-Toned Colour Palette For Your Lehenga

One of the best things about being an AW bride is that you get to play around with cooler tones of colours. These are colours we generally neglect because they can mute a person's persona and subdue the look a bit. However, during the winter season, these are the very colours that shine the most and bring joy to life. When you go in to choose the colours for your winter wedding lehenga, Meha suggests that you go in for a winter colour palette, "Choose either jewel tones like sapphires, emeralds and rubies or go in for muted earthy tones like maroon, burgundy, aubergine, deep greens and royal blue."

3. Go For Silks & Velvets

The material of your outfit is where a bride needs to play smart. This will probably be the only layer of insulation you'll get for your wedding night. So, choose wisely. When deciding the material of your outfits, Bhargava suggests you choose materials like Raw Silk or Velvets that will keep you warm and make you look stylish, "If you're going in for a whole velvet lehenga, then you can play with your second dupatta and choose a silk material, or vice-versa."

4. Pastels To Rock During The Day

There's no denying the fact that we all love pastel colours. They just give off an endearing vibe! Thus, Meha Bhargava suggests the one thing we'd do without even blinking our eyes, "If you're having a day winter wedding, or just functions during the day, then go in for pastel colours. They'll work flawlessly for you. Make sure that you go in for a full-sleeved blouse or in general a full-sleeved outfit like an Anarkali or Sharara that will help keep you warm."

5. Banarsi Silks & Brocades For The Win

One of the most timeless pieces of outfits that have reigned supreme during every winter wedding season is banarasi silk and brocade shararas, sarees and suits. Their rich feel and appearance, along with their natural warmth (or protection from cold) are what make them an apt choice for winter weddings!

6. Add A Shawl To Your Ensemble

If you are someone who is especially aversive to cold, or that shiver down your spine is not your jam, then there's a solution for you too! Meha Bhargava suggests draping a shawl to your attire, "When it comes to shawls, choose a wedding-worthy embellished one or a classic pashmina/cashmere/jamawar shawl." Plus if plain shawls don't go with your outfit, then you can easily get these shawls embroidered and made into a heavy bridal dupatta!

7. Sustainable Fashion Is In

Irrespective of the season or time of the year, this is a piece of advice we always give our brides-to-be. After your wedding, as a new bride, you'll be attending n number of events and occasions, which will require you to stand out and look pretty as a new bride. And buying a new outfit for every occasion is not a very sustainable thing to do. Styl.Inc. founder, Meha Bhargava agrees with us and advises, "Always remember to invest in a garment you can wear round the year and re-use/re-style it on other important occasions as well."
