A Hindu born Keralite tying knot to a Christian in North Indian style at a beach in a rainy evening definitely raised a lot of questions and eyebrows. However, putting them to rest was the couple's unrestrained happiness and undying love. Meet Jidhun (a wedding photographer based in Kerala) & Anjuna (a doctor by profession), the couple who dared to go against all odds and solemnize their love at a dream-like beachy setup.

And we can't decide what we loved about their wedding the most! Was it the quick monsoon shower during the saat pheras? The amazing sunset view? The multi-cultural nuptials? Or the oh-so gripping couple portraits? There were elements more than one that got our jaws-dropped. But it was undeniably the amazing photography by the ace crew of Plush Affairs and Castor Diary that topped the list.

Dive into this monsoon wedding madness planned by the experts from PODM Events & Frames at Indriya Sands Resort, Kochi and experience something one-of-a-kind!

Jidhun & Anjuna's Splendid Wedding Shenanigans

Fun Haldi Rituals

Jidhun and Anjuna had a three-day-long celebration which began with a joyous and vibrant Haldi ceremony. It was a close-knit affair with only close friends and family members in attendance. The event was hosted outdoors in the lush green environs of the Indriya Sands Resort. To keep in sync with the cheery vibes of the Haldi ceremony, the decorations were done with popping hues. While the entrance was made out of wooden logs and fresh marigold garlands, the couple's mehndi seating was kept all minimal with a hint of floral arrangements here and there. The sitting lounges were also trimmed with a lot of flowy drapes. comfy sofas and Jaipuri cushions.

Playing their outfit-coordination game strong, Jidhun and Anjuna dressed to impress on their Haldi ceremony. While Jidhun slipped into a basic yellow kurta with a pair of white churidars and black aviators, Anjuna, on the other hand, opted for a stunning yellow lehenga. She kept her look all simple by teaming her attire with a half-tie hairdo and a no-makeup look. Here's a quick glimpse through their joyous haldi shenanigans!

The Picturesque Wedding

Post the Haldi proceedings, the couple ringed in their big day celebrations the next day. The ceremony started on a spiritual note with a puja and was soon followed by the bride and groom's baraat entries. Yes, you read that right! The bride too had her own baraat and danced all her way to the mandap with her baraatis. Since their wedding was a mixture of North-Indian and Christian rituals, the duo first had their 'antarpraat' ceremony where the bride and groom were separated by a cloth and exchanged the jaimalas as the cloth was lowered. Later, the same day, the couple exchanged their wedding rings as per the Christian wedding and the bride was gifted ' Mantrakodi ' (saree gifted to bride by the groom as a part of Kerala Christian wedding). And what happened next was the best highlight of their wedding!

Anjuna always wanted a beach wedding and it wasn't really a great idea to opt for one in monsoon (their wedding happened in June). But the couple still stuck to hosting one by the beach and it turned out extremely well. As the couple began with their mangalsutra ceremony and the saat pheras, it started drizzling and boy what a breathtaking sight it was! Even though it only rained for a couple of minutes, those moments were purely magical. The rain, the beautiful sunset, the salty wind, the waves; everything made it more memorable.

Spilling some important deets from their big day, the groom shared, "We wanted to share this message of love beyond boundaries and religion. Even before the wedding date was fixed, We had decided the song to be played in mandap  - Aaj Ibaadat.. (Bajirao Mastani..just like how the song is about Ram and Allah.)" Her further added, "Both of us love rain. I have done a couple of shoots in rain too. But getting drenched at your wedding is not a good idea. We were tensed about it. The event team had made arrangements for an indoor function in case of heavy rain. Thankfully It rained only for 2-3 minutes, right at the moment of mangal sutra ceremony and the saat pheras.Yes we got drenched but to be frank we noticed it only later."

Coming to their wedding day looks, the bride and groom literally aced their game. Resplendent in a pastel peach lehenga from Lulu Celebrate, Anjuna made for a beautiful bride. She styled her monochrome lehenga with a mint green dupatta and finished off her look with a bunch of Kundan baubles, a borla and full glam makeup. Jidhun too colour-coordinated with her pretty well and wore a peachy patiala sherwani from Kalyan Silks and fashioned it with a mint green stole.

Jidhun and Anjuna's Love Tale

The groom shares,

She got to know about me through our mutual friend. She was looking for a wedding photographer for her sister's wedding. I committed that work and later we became friends. Our interest in photography and travel got us close. Mutual interests, compatibility and the individual space we gave to each other made the relationship stronger and we decided to take the beautiful step - The Marriage.

The Couple's Experience with the Vendors

Photographer: The A-team (Multiple Photographers)

Since I am a wedding photographer I got many friends in the same field, so we didn't hire anyone particular for photography. Team Plushaffairs, Team Castordiary, Sibin Chakko, Abhijith Sathyapalan, Yadhu Krishnan, Don Panakkal, Amarnath K, Arun Hegde, Sreejith k Soman, Amal Holdon, Giriprasad, Nidhin Narayanan, Noufal Subin, Gireesh, and Amal covered the function phenomenally.

Wedding planner: PODM EVENTS

They deserve the credits for taking the risk for a monsoon beach wedding. They selected the venue with the outdoor and indoor stage in case it rains heavily and we had to cancel the beach wedding plan.
