Meet Sufi & Anjali

Sufi and Anjali are a couple based out of California. While Sufi is an artist and teacher, Anjali Chakra is an event planner and producer. The duo connected seven years back when they followed each other’s Tumblr blogs followed by a meeting in New York in 2018. And, ever since then the grass has been greener for them. The queer couple also is interfaith — Malik is Muslim-Pakistani while Chakra is Hindu-Indian.

The couple is trending on Instagram, thanks to a photoshoot that they did back in 2019. According to Anjali, "Sufi and I were attending two weddings that weekend, so we did a photoshoot with the brand in exchange for free outfit rentals to wear to the wedding. The photos took off on Twitter, and then we actually hit news websites, papers, and TV within a couple of days in India, Pakistan, and the UK!"

Sufi & Anjali’s Engagement Outfits

For their engagement ceremony, Sufi Malik and Anjali Chakra donned the most beautiful outfits by Papa Don’t Preach by Shubhika. Sufi, for the occasion, wore a green raw silk half jumpsuit embellished with 3D embroidered flowers, pearls, and reflective sequins. Anjali, on the other hand, wore a lilac tulle lehenga embroidered with 3D flowers, glass cut beads, sequins, evil eye beads, and plastic shells. Paired with an embroidered lilac georgette blouse with 3D flowers + pink tulle dupatta.

The Adorable Proposal

Sufi planned the most adorable proposal for Anjali. She took her girlfriend of 4 years to the Empire State Building to ask her the most important question of their lives. Anjali was simply glowing and could just not contain her happiness!

For one of the most important days of their lives, Sufi donned a custom three-piece suit while Anjali wore a pretty lavender dress with feathers on the edges.
