As a newlywed wife, you will want to wear your and flaunt your engagement ring 24/7. No matter where you are headed or who you are planning to meet, the craze to flash that rock on your finger is one we all can relate to. However, with a big size wedding ring comes a big task of maintenance. And, one of the easiest things to do to increase the life of your ring and keep it safe from unforeseeable situations is by not wearing it everywhere.

That’s why today, we’ve compiled a list of a few situations where you should AVOID wearing your engagement ring. Scroll below and see the situations that are a big no-no!

These Are The Times You Shouldn't Wear Your Engagement Ring

1. International Trips Are a Big No No

While we all want those gram-worthy photos with our engagement ring in the frame, we strongly recommend leaving that big rock at home. Trust us, you’ll feel much more safer by not carrying your precious jewel to a new country. And, if you want to carry it along, then you should have it safely locked in the hotel room safe!

2. When Hitting the Gym

Absolutely at no cost should you wear your ring when heading to the gym. Ladies, with the amount of movement you’ll be doing and the heavyweights that you’ll be carrying, it's best to leave your engagement ring out of the way. And, on a side note, nobody likes their diamond covered in sweat!

3. Everyday to Office

While you may not be doing heavy lifting or some adventure activity where your ring is most likely to get hit, we think that wearing it to the office every day is also a big no. Even though you might be just using your laptop the entire day, there are times when you might bang your wedding ring on a hard surface by mistake!

So, be extra careful if you plan to wear that beautiful rock.

4. When Cooking a Feast

If you’re using an oven or fixing a light snack for yourself then it's fine to have your engagement ring on but if you’re going to be cooking a feast or going to go all out in the kitchen, your engagement ring should be inside the box. You’ll be cooking with all sorts of spices and herbs and washing your hand's plenty of times so it makes no sense to have your ring on then.

5. When Going to Sleep

Wearing your engagement ring when going to sleep is something we don’t recommend. Chances are your ring can get stuck in your hair or you may hit the bedside table while it's on. Of course, if you don’t move around a lot then it's fine to have it on but why risk it!?

6. When Moisturising Your Skin

No kidding, please do take off your engagement ring when you’re moisturising your skin. The chemicals, fragrances and other components that are put in a lotion can be really bad for that precious stone of yours in the longer run. Simply take off the ring, let your moisturiser dry and then put it back on!

7. When You’re Doing Household Chores

When doing household chores, avoid wearing your engagement ring. Many times while doing some aggressive cleaning, we forget about hard surfaces and weird spots that may be sharp for the diamond. Also, dust particles can very easily settle inside the small corners, making your diamond look very dull!

8. Keep Your Ring Out of the Pool

No, it is not advised to have your ring on when you’re going for a swim. Apart from the fact that chlorine water is extremely harmful to your ring, cold water shrinks the fingers and chances are the rings will slip out of your hands. To avoid such mishaps, it's better to just have your ring neatly tucked inside the box!
