Not every day we come across a wedding where the bride designed her outfit, families decorated the house for the ceremonies with an attendance of only 25 to 30 guests. And, this is exactly what happened at this Ludhiana wedding. Being family friends, Harkaran & Bhavdeep's parents arranged for them to meet and that's how their friendship turned into love started. Being a fashion designer, stylist, influencer cum blogger our bride of the day runs her label Youngberry for 8 years; whereas our dapper groom is a councillor, municipal corporation, and a photography enthusiast from where his bride-to-be got the inspiration to design her own Caramine red Anarkali! 

While the decision to conduct their wedding in lockdown & amid Coronavirus scare was not easy this couple went ahead with an intimate wedding since things are changing everyday and thus, families decided to go ahead with the wedding and pulled off in less than a month. From a STUNNING Anarkali embroidered with massive mansions, animals & birds to a bridal mask studded with Kundan stones this wedding is worth-pining down for your upcoming #intimatewedding! 

Introducing Harkaran & Bhavdeep's Intimate Wedding Where #Bhavlocksdownkaran!

Raised in Punjab, Bhavdeep Kaur & Harkarandeep Singh Vaid never imagined that they would get married during the lockdown. But as they say, that destiny had some other plans. When asked how they planned to do an intimate wedding during lockdown she said, "We barely had any time and none of the vendors or shops were open so it was difficult and we had to take a lot of permits. We reused a lot of stuff, did a lot of DIYs! Friends and family helped us with it. We had a zoom call on throughout the ceremonies so that our close ones are there with us virtually." 

With the help of their loved ones, this couple could finally pull-off their wedding beautifully while taking all safety measures well in advance. Advising future brides for their upcoming wedding she added, "I know we all imagine our weddings in a certain way with pomp and show/ with our whole family around. I never thought I would ever get married this way but considering the situation and accepting the fact that it won’t get better anytime soon. I’d suggest the to-be-brides to not postpone the wedding. Even though I missed my closed ones like my sister and best friend who couldn’t make it the wedding I can still say that it was the best day of my life. We won’t be allowed huge gatherings for a while now plus I guess a small intimate wedding reduces so much of Burden on a girl’s family so why not." 

A Fun-Filled DIY Haldi Day

To kick-start, their wedding celebrations, the first on the list was a fun-filled Haldi ceremony that took place on May 14, 2020. Performed at the groom's house with their closest family members and friends as attendees they ensured to decorate the house by themselves, which turned out to be stunning. Be it groom's sister Gagan who used her two years ago wedding kaleere to decorate the trees, brother who decorated the house with things available at home and to groom's mother who picked her phulkari dupattas and parandis to create a stunning backdrop that is to die for. This Vatna or haldi day was a DIY affair that looked perfect for an intimate wedding.

In fact, not to miss out on the welcome poster that was hand-painted using watercolours with fresh flowers used from the garden by the bride's niece! And, delicious homecooked food that was prepared at the groom's house. 

We also spotted our bride of the day wearing a hot pink lehenga by her label Youngberry, which contrasted beautifully with yellow colour. She said, "I went for a colourful butterfly; hand-embroidered blouse with metal straps to give it a quirky look. When it comes to the skirt I went for a layered organza midi skirt with stripes in different shades of pink." Furthermore, she paired it with polki studs by Kundan Jewellers that made her look ever-charming! 

Mehendi Ceremony 

After a joyous haldi ceremony, it was now time for 'Mehendi hai rachnewali'. Celebrated at the bride's house on May 15, 2020, the family decided a day before to install a big projector in the house so that a video conference with family and friends could be set up and they could invite the guests virtually who could not attend the wedding due to lockdown and travel restrictions. As far as the live dance performances are concerned bride's nieces and nephews at the video conference session. While the bride's brother was the official DJ for the ceremony who played music from his phone using a big speaker. 

Safety Precautions & A Glowy Makeup

We know that glowy bridal makeup can make so much difference to your look. To make it perfect for her dream mehendi and wedding day, Inder Kaur makeup artist did a fabulous makeover. She said, "I give her a nude makeup for both functions and enhanced her features accordingly as she wanted to have minimal makeup. Giving her the same lip shade for both functions, I applied Huda Beauty's power bullet matte lipstick - 'Wedding Day' that made her look drop-dead-gorgeous."

In fact, taking all safety precautions into consideration, Inder Kaur makeup artist ensured to wear masks, gloves, and sanitised all her makeup brushes and makeup products. Just like makeup is essential for a bridal look, the hairstyle is something that should be spot-on too. She added, "For her mehendi we decided to have twisted braids with curls and bubble pony adorned with artificial flowers (as fresh flowers were not available due to the lockdown). And, for the wedding day, we kept it simple with a bridal bun."

Bride Who Cut Out Her Blouse Sleeves & Made Her Mask!

Looks like there is a wave of intimate weddings happening in the nation cos after all Coronavirus couldn't defeat LOVE at all. But, getting married in the time of Corona can be a little challenging and this bride showed us how to use elements to make yourself safe & chic at the same time. Bhavdeep Kaur said, "I knew that I’d be wearing a mask most of the time during my mehendi and didn’t want to wear that basic blue mask because I knew I’d want to remove it then. So I thought of beautifying it where I literally cut out my blouse and used the sleeve to make this mask out of it and I was so happy to see how it turned out." Well, surely it's breaking the internet and here is how it looked!   

Mehnedi Done Right By Bride's Bhabhi & Her Fiance!

Coming to bridal mehndi, the bride's bhabhi and groom applied cute mehndi designs on Bhavdeep's hand that represented a place he would like to take her after things improve. She said, "Planning a lockdown wedding wasn’t easy. We had to find DIY substitutes for almost everything you can think of. Whenever it came to my mehendi I’d get thinking and was too skeptical on whether I should call a professional mehndi artist or not. Because he/she would be in direct contact and I had no guarantee if that person was self-isolating or not and every time I’d get worried thinking about this he’d say 'I’ll do your Mehendi' and he did and... I loved it so much not because it was the best-looking mehendi but because every stroke had so much love in it."

How adorable, right? While her bhabhi did a great job, our groom-to-be was not behind. She said, "My hand looked like a landscape that we used to draw as kids. A hut, river, mountains, birds, and whatnot. He practiced it with a pen and sheet of paper a few nights before the mehendi function and I was so excited because I knew I’d never forgotten this mehendi and these moments are so special and close to my heart now." 

Pretty Floral Backdrop That Made Our Jaws Drop! 

While the Haldi ceremony was all about DIY elements. Mehendi night was about the breath-taking decoration that made our jaws drop! What made us drool in this function was a pretty floral backdrop of 'Dulhania', suspended umbrellas, parandis, and fairy lights that were done superbly by Adarsh Decor. 

Bhavdeep's Blouse That Was Remade Four Times! 

Remember we told you that she cut out her blouse sleeves to make her bridal mask. Similarly, for her mehendi blouse, she wanted something that looks quirky and colourful. And guess what? Her blouse looked like this after remaking it almost 4 times where tassels were added last minute.

Teepee Tent Setup By The #Motherofthebride

Ticking off everything on her list. Next was having a gorgeous mehndi ceremony at her backyard with beautiful teepee tents that her mom created using fabrics from her studio and decorated the house with garment racks, cushions made in brocade, and velvet with accessible fabrics and other props available at the in-house Youngberry studio. PS: The results will amaze you! 

Best Bridesmaids Who Made It Possible!  

Even though her sister & best friend couldn't make it for her wedding. She was blessed enough to have lovely bridesmaids who ensured to pamper her throughout the celebrations. Check out the snaps with her #bridalsquad!

And, Here She Get's Engaged Forever...

After all the pampering from her bridesmaids and loved ones, it was time for her to say 'Yes Forever'! Harkaran went down on his knees and proposed her bride to be with a stunning rock from Le Khanna Jewellers that is gorgeous. After exchanging rings these newly-engaged couples enjoyed homecooked food and homemade sweets such as puddings, cake, fruit cream, etc., which their family and friends had sent them.  

The Wedding Day

And, here comes the wedding day that was celebrated on May 17, 2020. The Sikh Anand Karaj was conducted at the Sarabha Nagar Gurudwara, Ludhiana with very close family and friends in attendance. Where the entire extended family & friends attended the wedding virtually on zoom call. But, what grabbed our attention was Bhavdeep's Carmine red Anarkali with a matching mask that is the talk of the town.

As Harkaran & Bhavdeep was all ready to say 'I Do' to each other. They also made sure to follow certain safety precautions due to the COVID-19 such as: 

• A sanitizing foot wash was placed at the entrance.
• All guests wore foot covers after entering the gurdwara.
• A table was set up at the entrance for guests with drinking water, masks, and sanitizer bottles.
• Plastic mats were placed at 6 feet distance in the gurdwara wedding hall for the guests so social distancing could be followed.
• The groom's family arranged for a simple lunch at their house after the wedding ceremony while their friends & family members sent desserts to be served at the wedding!

Stunning Caramine Red Anarkali That Was Self- Designed By The Bride

What if we tell you that this bride designed her bridal outfit & mask that is going viral on the internet? Bhavdeep Kaur who runs her label Youngberry decided to make a COVID-19 inspired sketch where the bride and groom are locked in a big castle while animals (deers, elephants), birds (peacocks), etc. are roaming around the streets freely. Also, showing how nature is reviving and coming back to life amid this pandemic she depicted massive mansions which are surrounded with clean lakes with ducks, clear skies, trees in full bloom, elephants on roads, peacocks sitting on locked gates, deer running wild and free and people capturing them being locked inside. 

Later, Bhavdeep got this traced on her outfit and embroidered by local craftsmen, tailors, and karigars who were working from home and did a fabulous job with whatever material they had been provided with.

She Also Customised Masks For Herself & For Her #BridalSquad!

The cherry on the cake was when Bhavdeep also got her matching mask stitched by her karigars and girl it's worth-bookmarking! On the other hand, her friends colour coordinated their outfits for the wedding day and helped each other from their existing wardrobes and mix-matched everything. And, since wearing masks was mandatory she decided to make them more fun, and those surgical blue masks were made fancier by adding stick-on kundans, sequin pearls, etc.

Her Bridal Jewllery That Was Ordered Virtually

Wondering how did she manage to buy her bridal jewellery during the lockdown? "As far as my choora and kaleere are concerned I got them from a local store and chose both the things over Whatsapp wherein I told my size to them over call and got them delivered at my home. Also, for my wedding jewellery I did it similarly and had sent them pictures of a choker for reference and they sent me similar options available with them, which I finally wore on my Anand Karaj!" 

Gurudwara Wedding With All Precautions On-Point!

Having a Sikh wedding ceremony in the Gurudwara, their Anand Karaj was no less than a dream. Inviting 25-30 guests in total she said, "We had masks at the entrance and a foot pump sanitiser. For the Anand Karaj ceremony in the Gurudwara, we even had disposable plastic sheets to sit on which was placed 6 feet away and disposable plastic socks which even my husband and I wore."
