As brides-to-be, you must often wonder what makes for a memorable wedding? Fancy venues & massive sets, opulent décor and exorbitant designer clothes? Maybe! But what really infuses life into the celebrations, standing as the single most indispensable part of weddings are the people- the couple, their friends and family who pump in all those ‘good vibes’ and have no inhibitions whatsoever in letting their guards down!

Neha, who is a freelance celebrity fashion & costume stylist and has styled Soha Ali Khan (who also attended the wedding!) and Sharan, a sport enthusiast working at Sony Pictures Networks, had a one such wedding kept personal and intimate, where the warmth, the love, and the shared happiness outshone everything materialistic, as the festivities transpired magically over the span of three days and left us awestruck with some actual wedding goals and 6 inch smiles!

We saw their cozy and traditional Mehendi ceremony, a downright fun Sangeet ceremony, a gorgeous & serene Anand Karaj and a lavish mandap setup for a fairy-tale outdoor wedding at JW Marriot Mumbai Sahar, but what we are absolutely doting on is the heart-warming, beautiful emotional intangibles documented impeccably by Saurabh Rungta Photography. I think it’s safe to say that a bunch of photos and a video later (keep scrolling), your world is going to be a brighter place! Really. Go see for yourself!

A sunset indoor mehndi at the bride’s residence was the perfect way to kick-start the wedding ceremonies. We loved how the couple chose to keep it close to the traditional roots with an intimate get together of some close family and friends, making us reminisce of those good ol’ days when mehndi functions were just as much personal and fun without the need of exorbitant decors or loud music or hundreds of guests! The bride wore a self-designed sleeveless banarasi silk mustard kurta with hand embroidered highlights and wide-legged cropped palazzos. Just so easy-peasy for the mehndi ceremony. For accessories, she kept it poppy with Mang tikka and jhumkas of white and red dry flowers from Floral Art by Srishti.

Sangeet night was a fun packed & spirited affair! The stage was fantastically decorated with bespoke floral structures and luminescent curtains of pretty pastel hues rendering a great atmosphere for the dances to begin! It was delightful to see how the bride and the groom did not hold back their moves and set the stage on fire. Neha looked utterly mesmerizing in a dreamy ivory base lehenga with champagne gold hand embroidery from Anushree Reddy paired with a 3-line diamond necklace and long diamond earrings from Notandas Jewellers, along with shades of pink fresh flower jewelry from Floral Art by Srishti. Her hair, beautifully set in a crown fishtail braid embellished with baby breath flowers and soft waves completed her look with so much class!

The pheras took place during sunset in an English garden themed outdoor wedding which they beautified with drapes and garden roses in soft pastel shades of lavender, pale pinks, white and peach against a rustic green wall. The majestic chandeliers and floral hangings from the ceiling made the mandap look absolutely sublime! “I never thought I’d ever say this, but the prettiest Mandap I have ever seen is mine", said the beaming bride. They introduced color-coordinated safas with turquoise safas for the baraatis and coral ones for the ladkiwale. Neha looked resplendent in a raspberry red Sabyasachi blouse and lehenga with all over gold sequin and zardozi hand embroidery and peach highlights draped with two dupattas. Sharan looked dapper in a nude pink raw silk base sherwani with all over intricate French knots and gold dori embroidery with subtle gold buttons and an ivory gold safa designed by the better-half herself!

A hearty Reception

The reception party commenced right after the wedding. They had an unconventional reception with cake, champagne, and heartfelt speeches pouring in from friends and family, followed by a celebratory family dinner at a 20-seater table facing their mandap. The tables were furbished with overlays and centerpieces with candles and florals in the powder pink palette, as did the packaging of their wedding favors. Bollywood actress Soha Ali Khan also attended the reception to congratulate the beautiful couple. The groom sported a classic black tuxedo suit, again designed by Neha.

How they met

"We go back 6 years when we met during our respective first professional stints at a talent agency in Mumbai. I was the ‘new girl’ and he was the ‘guy next door’. He had the best smile. About 3 months into working in the same office, one Sunday afternoon, over wine and a Margherita pizza, we realized something was different."

And how he proposed...

"I always said to him, “When the day comes, I better be blown away!” ☺ Much to my surprise, he took me out to a spectacular dinner at a Thai restaurant and charmed my socks off when he went down on a knee with the ring in hand and asked me to marry him! I said yes even before he could complete his question. Meanwhile, a server from the restaurant was spotted hiding in the bushes trying to capture the golden moment. He failed miserably! No brownie points scored."

Neha’s favorite moment from their wedding (and ours too!)

“I was surrounded by my closest people as I walked into the lawns, under a gorgeous chaadar of ferns, pink roses, and white orchids and there was a teary-eyed groom in the distance waiting with a varmala in his hands. It’s the only time I have ever seen him emotionally overwhelmed!

Our Pheras felt like a sacred dream with soulful Shiva chants playing in the background and heaps of rose petals that were being showered on us by all our wonderful family and friends.”

Advice for all the brides-to-be (You cannot miss this)

“As a bride, never compromise on 2 things - First, your photographer & filmmaker, whom I booked a year prior to the special day and Second, your hair & makeup artists. They are the two crucial elements that make sure you look your best on your big day and on every day after that!

Book your venues and vendors well in advance. Pamper yourselves before the big day. Make sure you are well rested and definitely not hungover! And lastly, remember to ENJOY your own wedding. You may be the host, but first, you’re the bride.”
