Her wedding had a hanging cake, exquisite jewellery, a straight-outta-dreams decor and of course, a bridal trousseau with the choicest of outfits. The beauty of a wedding planned by the couple themselves is gonna stack you up with oodles of ideas you can steal from.

Spiritual start with Maata Ki Chowki

Rahul and Savnit's wedding shenanigans kicked off on a holy note with a Mata Ki Chowki. For this function, Savnit kept it all simply elegant and donned a lime green sharara with magenta and pearl highlights from the label Monika Nidhii. She rounded off her look with a neat bun with some ferns and highlighted the look with green kohl under her eyes. Rahul, on the other hand, picked a red kurta set from Kora, Mumbai.

Dazzling Sangeet

The couple walked together and made a sparkling entry to their Sangeet ceremony. Savnit shone like a star in a heavily embellished Monika Nidhii lehenga and smartly elevated her look with statement diamond and emerald jewellery. Whereas, Rahul kept it all classic in an asymmetrical bandhgala with some cool button detailing, designed by Kora in Mumbai.

Btw, the showstopper of this sangeet ceremony goes to the gorgeous hanging cake. Set against a beautiful backdrop of giant floral wreath installment, the hanging cake was a sight to behold. "Buttercup Bungalow makes the tastiest and most gorgeous cakes in Lucknow," says the bride.

Pro styling tip from the bride: Clashing stones from your jewellery with your outfit is a very cool trick to create make your pictures interesting.

Mehendi in Metallic Saree

While most brides pick vibrant outfits for their mehendi ceremony, Savnit broke the norm and personified elegance in a statement grey and gold saree by Kiran Uttam Ghosh. "Our mehendi was a very simple lunch affair for which I teamed my saree with presto statement earrings and kept the makeup bare minimally. The only cheat was a rose gold eyeliner," Savnit quipped while talking about her mehendi look.

Rahul yet again picked his outfit from Kora and complimented his bride well in a sharp drape kurta and Sadri.

Remarkably Romantic Engagement

Savnit and Rahul got engaged in a super dreamy gardenia setup that consisted of interesting elements like bamboo sticks, suspended bulbs and spell-binding cascading decor. Revealing the details about this ceremony, Savnit said, "This one is out of my scrapbook! I chose a golden Shantanu and Nikhil gown and a classic black tux for Rahul. The flares and fit of a Shantanu Nikhil gown are incomparable. We entered the function backstage on 'A thousand Years' by Christina Perri and Rahul down on his knees to propose to me at the end of it. That's how we got engaged."

And Oh! The bride too got on her knees to slip the ring onto her groom. *Cutest*

Pool Party and Haldi in Coordinating Outfits

The wedding revelries continued with a pool party and fun-filled haldi ceremony. For both these events too, Savnit’s outfit choices gave us oh-damn-goals! For the pool party, she picked an offbeat yellow and light blue lehenga (in sync with the decor) from Rangeelo Juno Des in Shahpur Jat. She paired the lehenga with a really quirky pearl and floral neckpiece. Rahul too donned a bright yellow kurta in accordance with the vibrant decor.

Maharani-style Wedding

Savnit has always been a wedding enthusiast and day dreamt of her wedding ever since she was 10 years old.(How adorable!) She even had a Pinterest board of wedding ideas running since she was in school. Moreover, as a stylist, her wedding was her ultimate styling project.

Well, the diva left no stone unturned to make her wedding the one she had dreamt of. Her regal bridal look in a fiery belted lehenga from Sulakshana Monga truly left us speechless. “I was almost struck with a dejavu when I saw my wedding lehengas for the first time at Sulakshana Monga’s showroom. It was legit, love at first sight. I never wanted anything too loud yet make a statement with a pinch of classic elements. I still have sketches from standard 10 where I sketched a blouse design exactly like the one I wore,” the bride narrates.

Well, Rahul too made a dapper groom in a very unique Soltee sherwani which had subtle handwork highlight and a lot of style with the lattice weave.

For the makeup, Savnit made it a point to keep it simple. She decided to go with a no color look and skipped using a lip color at all because she had heard a lot of brides complain of their lip shade being smudged because of the Nath. Well, must say, this daring decision paid off pretty well!

BTW, she even had the most minimal chooda we’ve seen off late!

How they met!

Both Rahul and Savnit hail from Lucknow and had a lot of common friends. But, they met for the first time just four months before the wedding. "10 days into talking to this guy, I realized there was a whole different side of me that no one but he made me realize about. Further, a five-hour long lunch date in Delhi and we knew we'd last forever," shares the bride.

Useful wedding planning tips from the bride

  • One thing that I decided before I even began my wedding shopping was to not check price tags to judge the outfit. It helps you save yourself from making the wrong call just because of the budget. In my opinion, the first recee of your wedding outfits should be with a free mind followed by a second round of filtering options as per budget.

  • Secondly, I was always very sure to not wear anything uncomfortable in my functions. Every outfit I wore was the epitome of ease. I got in and out of my outfits all by myself without any fuss!

  • Thirdly and most importantly, remember it is not about just the clothes but the entire look. Brides often make the mistake of choosing a very heavy lehenga and then end up buying equally heavy jewels. It’s very important to strike a balance between the makeup, clothes, and jewellery.
