Pre & Post Holi Skincare & Hair Care For Brides-To-Be

Skincare Tips for Holis

Since you are soon going to be married, you need to make sure that your skin is safe and protected while you enjoy playing Holi the most. Follow these pre and post-Holi skincare tips to enjoy the festival of colours in the best way you can!

Pre-Holi Skincare

1. Don't Take Any Facial Treatments Two To Three Days Before Playing Holi

I know that you must be having back-to-back salon appointments as you are the bride-to-be but if you want to play Holi, you mustn't get any facial treatment done two to three days before you play Holi. This is because facial treatments can make your skin more vulnerable, hence more prone to damage from the chemicals that are present in colours.

2. Wear The Right Outfits

While playing Holi, we mostly wear our old clothes. However, it is important to avoid bulky clothes and wear light and breathable clothes that cover most of your skin. This saves your skin from being in direct contact with chemical colours.

3. Prepare your skin

The first step you need to take to protect your skin is to create a barrier on it. For this, you need to moisturize your skin properly with a thick moisturizer making sure to massage it well into your skin. Once the moisturizer is absorbed, add another layer. This will act as a protective shield from all those harmful chemicals and consequently lessen the damage.

4. Give Your Lips The Care They Need

A common mistake that we all make with our pre-Holi skin care is forgetting about our lips. Lips can become dry and stained because of all the colours. So, before you step out and drown in colourful joys, apply a thick coat of SPF lip balm all our your lips.

5. Wear A Generous Amount Of Sunscreen

Once you have moisturized your skin, the next thing to keep in mind before playing Holi is to cover your skin with a generous amount of waterproof sunscreen. To protect your skin from getting tanned and sunburnt, use sunscreen with an SPF higher than 30. Holi or not, using sunscreen generously is an unskippable step for everyone and not just brides-to-be.

6. Nails Need Your Attention Too

No matter how much we love Holi, we hate it when the colours settle under our nails and our nails become rough and brittle. To avoid this, paint your nails with dark nail polish once it's dry. Coat your nails and cuticles with olive our.

7. Don't Forget Your Ears

It is quite easy to miss out on your ears while you are protecting the rest of your body. This is why it would be a good idea to start your pre-Holi skin care with your ears. All you need to do is rub a good amount of Vaseline all around and on your ears.

8. Protect Your Eyes

Now that your skin is all ready to play a safe Holi, it is now time to wear your sunglasses and protect your eyes too. The chemicals present in colours are pretty harsh and you should keep them from entering your eyes.

9. Double Cleanse

As soon as you get back home after playing Holi, the first thing you should do is double-cleanse your face. Double cleansing is essentially cleansing your face with an oil-based cleanser first and then following it up with a water-based cleanser. This ensures that your face is properly clean.

10. Exfoliate Your Body

After you have double-cleansed your face, it is time to clean your body. A regular shower won't get rid of all the colour stains on your body. So, wash your body with a shower gel and a loofah first then go in with an exfoliating scrub. You can DIY your exfoliating scrub by mixing crystal sugar, coconut oil and a little bit of lemon juice.

11. Soothe Your Sunburns

If you have been playing Holi in the sun, chances are that you have sunburns. To calm the red and itchy skin, rub some ice wrapped up in a thin cloth over the affected areas.

12. Hydrate And Moisturise

Now that you have properly cleaned your face and your body, you need to hydrate it as well. So, take your favourite moisturiser and apply it generously all over your body. Use a gentle and hydrating face cream for your face.

13. Avoid Makeup Or Parlour Sessions

No matter how much you are tempted to get cleanup or facial after Holi, you must resist that urge. Let your skin breathe and feel free before you splash another round of chemicals onto it.
