While you may have your fair share of knowledge about your gold and diamond jewellery, we know that deep down you must always get confused between polki jewellery and Kundan jewellery. And why wouldn’t you? It’s been a myth that both the stones are similar when in reality, the difference between both is immense. So, to make sure that you are never mistaken and are always the first one to be able to tell the difference between polki and Kundan bridal jewellery, we have curated this blog only for you, girl. Also, we’re sure that after going through it, you are gonna pick the right set for your wedding day and flaunt like a diva.

What Is The Difference Between Polki And Kundan Bridal Jewellery?

What is Polki Jewellery?

Created similarly as Kundan jewellery, polki jewellery is originally made with unfinished natural diamonds. There is absolutely no enhancement or change done on the stones and is used in their natural form. These uncut diamonds are just given a basic cut and polish. And since the gold and diamond content in this jewellery is higher, naturally the price also is relatively higher than that of Kundan jewellery. Also, since usually there is so much going on in polki jewellery, it is quite heavy to wear as compared to Kundan bridal jewellery.

SS Tip: If you are a to-be-bride and you want a cheaper option than diamonds for your wedding jewellery, then we suggest that you simply look no further and opt for polki jewellery. Oh, and usually these bridal jewellery set looks drop-dead gorgeous with a long gold beaded chain.

What is Kundan Jewellery?

Kundan jewellery is created by using 24K refined gold, known as ‘Kundan’ with gemstones and glass. The process to make Kundan jewellery is relatively longer and more intense than that of polki jewellery. It is so elaborate that you’d find layers of stones on one set. Oh, and there can be both precious and semi-precious stones on a Kundan jewellery set. While the original Kundan jewellery literally means pure gold, now there are so many artificial Kundan jewellery options available too, which won't burn a hole in your pocket.

SS Tip: Brides-to-be, if you want to take the traditional route for your wedding jewellery then go with Kundan jewellery as it will give a more heritage and traditional vibe than polki jewellery. Oh, and Kundan also happens to be less expensive than polki jewellery!

How To Differentiate Between Kundan V/S Polki Jewellery

  1. Polki is usually more expensive than Kundan jewellery.
  2. Kundan will give a more traditional vibe than your polki set would.
  3. Polki jewellery usually has raw and uncut stones with absolutely no processing while Kundan jewellery is made of glass stones
