Celebrity Wedding Cakes That Inspired Us

1. Paris Hilton and Carter Reum

Paris Hilton's star-studied wedding celebration to beau Carter Reum at her ancestral Bel Air home was a vision of stunning decor, an enviable guest list, several high-end designer outfit changes and an extravagant dinner menu, all topped off with a towering wedding cake that is every bride's dream.

Created by Joanie & Leigh's Cakes from Los Angeles, the lavish 6-tier princess cake was nothing less than spectacular. The cake stood at a whopping 6 feet decorated with a round floral base that was covered in tons of roses. The cake was decorated with intricate gold detailing and pink quilting patterns with the couple's logo emblazed on the 4th tier. Our favourite part of the cake was the middle tier which was envisioned as a carousel with Cinderella's horse-drawn carriage and golden palm trees. And right on top of the cake was a gorgeous royal crown similar to the one on their wedding invites!

2. Alia Bhatt & Ranbir Kapoor

Never did we ever expect this celebrity wedding's celebratory cake to be such a minimal and rustic delight!

Alia and Ranbir's wedding cake was three-tiered goodness frosted with delicious swiss buttercream and decorated with dried pressed flowers. Created by the amazing Pooja Dhingra, founder and owner of Le 15 Patisserie, the wedding confection was a simple chocolate-hazelnut cake covered with white buttercream. For decoration, pressed flowers were added to the cake's icing that was provided by the flower company Interflora. Similarly, there was a second cake for their after-party which was a 3-tier gorgeousness decorated with dried peonies that had hand-painted gold accents. And while we don't have a picture of it, we're sure it was delicious!

3. Devika Bhise and Nicholas Gilson

The regal wedding of The Accidental Husband star Devika Bhise and her beau Nicholas Gilson at The Leela Palace Udaipur was an amalgamation of their different cultures and the epitome of their movie-like romance. For their memorable celebration, the hotel chefs created a towering white cake that they cut amidst fireworks. The show-stopping cake had three tiers with each tier decorated uniquely. The first tier on the bottom had rose gold coloured Indian lotuses, while the middle tier had vertical red strips on it. Similarly, the topmost and final tier was adorned with tiny rose gold lotuses and a diagonal line of tiny hearts. To top it off, the cake topper, which was designed by the bride's mother, was a quirky take on their relationship, hilariously depicting the bride carrying her husband on her shoulder!

Moreover, the couple cut the cake with a magnificent 300-year-old ceremonial sword that belonged to the erstwhile king of the Palace. Now if that's not royal, we don't know what is!

4. Ankita Lokhande and Vicky Jain

Ankita Lokhande and Vicky Jain's wedding was a 3-day extravaganza in Mumbai that dazzled with its larger-than-life decor, opulent festivities and stunning designer couture. Needless to say, the couple’s decadent 5-tier wedding cake was just as phenomenal.

Made by the Mumbai-based DCakeCreation, the regal white fondant cake was ornately decorated with an abundance of embellishments and intricate detailing. Furthermore, the hanging crystals on the cake stand elevated the entire look of the masterpiece. The highlight, however, was the custom-made cake toppers designed to look like the happy couple!

5. Gauahar Khan and Zaid Darbar

Gauhar Khan and Zaid Darbar's wedding was a lavish celebration, spanning several days, that was an absolute treat for the eyes. And one of the show-stoppers of their reception was the majestic, multi-tier wedding cake. A reflection of the couple's vivacious personalities, the cake was created by D Cake Creations. The six-tier confection was a mix of red and white, artfully decorated with gold accents. In line with the decor theme, the cake flaunted delicate rose petals and intricate metallic gold icing with a 'Mr & Mrs' sign in the fourth tier that was hollow in between. Seated on a bed of scarlet roses, white lilies and wispy baby's breath, the cake looked like an absolute gastronomic delight that genuinely matched the bride and groom's vibe!

6. Jennifer Gates and Nayel Nassar

Jennifer Gates, the daughter of Bill && Melinda Gates, and equestrian Nayel Nasser tied the knot in a quaint affair at the couple's farm in Westchester, New York. The low-key yet dreamy wedding was truly a divine celebration of their love and happiness all topped off with a stunning 6-tier floral cake baked by the famous Sylvia Weinstock!

Sylvia Weinstock is a celebrated baker who has created some of the most delectable confections for stars ranging from Oprah Winfrey and Robert de Niro to Sofia Vergara’s wedding cake. Just a few weeks before her passing, the 91-year-old baker came out of retirement to create this culinary masterpiece for the newlyweds. The baker who had once famously said they never count the flowers but just keep adding, decked the towering cake with layers of hand-crafted off-white and soft pink roses on smooth and shiny white marshmallow fondant.

7. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry

Tradition has always played a very important role in royal weddings. However, what made Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's wedding special was how they deviated slightly from old traditions and carefully put in place new ideas for the next generation of royals and the new cultures brought in.

Claire Ptak, a California-raised London-based pâtissière and owner of Violet Cakes was given the responsibility of creating the royal couple's wedding cake. Ptak is a baker known to work with season and organic ingredients in her cakes. And as expected, her cake (or should we say cakes) for the royal wedding was a gentle statement that coincided with the wedding aesthetic. However, deviating from the previous towering wedding cakes, Ptak split the cake into three parts, each sized differently and placed upon ornate golden platforms of varying heights. The cakes were swatched in rich swiss meringue buttercream and topped with 150 fresh flowers consisting of British peonies and roses.

8. Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder

Known for their roles as vampires in two different pop-culture phenomena (Twilight and The Vampire Diaries, respectively), Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder's wedding was a rustic affair perfect for the romantic couple. At their surprise wedding, the white wedding cake looked like an absolute work of art. The three-tiered confection, made by the Vanilla Bake Shop, was covered in off-white cream icing in graceful streaks with peonies elegantly placed in certain areas. The icing on the cake (pun intended!) was the dainty golden cake topper showing two love birds sitting on a wreath. The muted colours of the floral arrangement, the ivory buttercream on the cake and the golden cake topper made for a pleasing colour theory. And we're sure it was as delicious as it was pretty!

9. Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja

From a 2-tiered chocolate cake to a 6-tiered stunning cake full of textures, Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja had not one but three delicious cakes for their wedding festivities.

Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja's wedding cake was nothing short of entrancing, just like the starlet. It was a cake that encapsulated the couple's fun and quirky personalities with the added glitz and glamour of their everyday life. And we know that the couple had three wedding cakes, with one gracing their reception celebration and two others for their later housewarming ceremonies.

But the one that's in focus for us is their reception cake. Created by chef extraordinaire Pooja Dhingra, the towering 6-tiered cake was full of layers and textures where the colours merged and shined all at the same time. With every layer covered in buttercream, the artistic elements of the cake were the myriad of designs on each layer with one layer covered in silver glitter and another lined with light pink macaroons. Topping it off, the cake's topmost tiered was decorated with large purple flowers serving as toppers.

The second cake was a 2-tier chocolate cake covered in dollops of chocolate ganache and decorated with marigold flowers. Similarly, the third cake was a simpler, muted cake with edible flowers on top and a chocolate layer encasing it from the sides.

10. Michael Phelps and Nicole Johnson

Married in 2016, Olympic swimming champion Michael Phelps and his wife Nicole Johnson have been happily married for years now. And while celebrating their marriage for the third time on New Year's Eve, the couple served a 6-tiered black and gold Art Deco-style cake. Art Deco was a major wedding trend around 2016-2017 and is still preferred for evening celebrations like cocktails and sangeets (thanks largely to Leo and The Great Gatsby). The wedding cake was all flapper fabulous that paired perfectly with their 1920's themed bash.

Made by the Phoenix-based bakery Heart Sweet Cakes, the cake was half vanilla cake with strawberry buttercream and the other half chocolate Devil's food cake with  Reese’s peanut butter cup buttercream and chocolate buttercream. To top it all off, the monogrammed cake sat atop a glittery table with a sign that read, "A little cake killed nobody"!

11. Akash Ambani And Shloka Mehta

While Akash and Shloka tied the knot in 2019, their engagement had taken place months prior and the engagement celebration was graced with the addition of a multi-tiered delectable cake! Bunty Mahajan, the patisserie chef at the famous Deliciae Patisserie, designed the magnificent and sumptuous 5-tier engagement cake with a white and gold base. The cake was adorned with gold accents and a row of lush flowers in pink and white, with the 'SA' initials of the couple monogrammed in the middle tier and a custom-made cake topper which had the couple's name on it.

12. Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra

The wedding of Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra was the wedding of the century. The couple got married in a luxurious and fun-filled wedding affair at Jodhpur's Umaid Bhawan Palace. And while everything about their wedding was grandiose, their wedding cake was on a whole new level. The gigantic wedding cake was a whopping 18 feet tall with 6 tiers, created by Nick's chef. The extravagant cake was covered in ivory fondant with gold accents, each designed like a palatial column of a Victorian castle. The cake was truly exuberant and quite fitting for their royal affair!

13. Asin Thottumkal & Rahul Sharma

Actress Asin Thottumkal married her beau Rahul Sharma, the founder of Micromax on January 19, 2016, in a beautiful white wedding at Dusit Devarana, a luxurious resort in Delhi. While the celebration was quiet under the wraps, every image we saw of this couple's lavish wedding was gorgeous. And for us, one of the elements that stood out at the couple's white wedding was their 10-tier wedding cake. Crafted by Nishant Choubey, who was the Executive Sous Chef of the hotel at that time, the 10-tier vanilla-flavoured wedding cake was tall and lavish, with white fondant covering every tier and sugar roses of pastel hues. Honestly, seeing that giant white cake in the wedding photos was truly a sight for us. We can only imagine how delicious it must have been!

14. Mark Ballas and BC Jean

Possibly one of the most amazing and pretty wedding cakes we've seen, Mark Ballas and BC Jean's wedding cake was finalised after trying out 13 different cake flavours and combos! The Dancing with the Stars pros tied the knot in a dreamy, fairytale-themed ceremony and had a gorgeous cake that was a mix of Pink Velvet Cake and Neapolitan. The cake was made with layers of vanilla chocolate and red velvet cake filled with layers of strawberry, vanilla and chocolate icing. The 6-tier cake was accented with 24-karat gold paintings crafted to look like the inside of the couple’s wedding invitations, which were custom made. It had a navy blue touch with a gold crescent moon and stars which looked majestic, simple and beautiful, matching every magical aesthetic of the couple's wedding!

15. Sofia Vergara & Joe Manganiello

Although it's been a good 5-6 years since the two got married, Sofia Vergara & Joe Manganiello's wedding cake left us in awe of its beauty. While everyone was swooning over Vergara's custom Zuhair Murad couture gown, it was the gorgeous wedding cake that left jaws dropped. Designed by pastry chef and legend Sylvia Weinstock, the five-tiered cake featured a quilted design with flowers over each tier and was topped with a giant floral arrangement!

16. Chrissy Teigen and John Legend

Well, John Legend and Chrissy Teigen have been married since 2013. And their grand wedding on the terrace of a villa overlooking Lake Como in Italy was a spectacular affair for sure. But what brought more joy and treat to the wedding table was their three-tier cake! A naked, carrot cake filled with dollops of cream cheese frosting and lined with wild botanicals bursting out between the tiers was the perfect cake the couple could have come up with for their luxurious wedding. Plus, the cake was so good that even after five years, Teigen nostalgically posted a picture of the delicious-looking cake while writing, 'I miss you, giant cake.'
