After working day and night to get that perfect hourglass figure and defined abs, the last thing that you would want to do is ruin it all a week before the big day by hogging onto something that will add a few extra inches to your tummy. And that ‘SOMETHING’ could even include the healthiest of foods like juicy fruits, beans and raw veggies.

Now, that you don’t want that to happen to you, let’s school you on what all foods you shouldn’t be having a week prior to your wedding day!

Coffee

It must be tough for you to do away with your day sans your regular cup of jolt but what if we tell you that it will result you with a bloating stomach? Yes, that’s true! The content of caffeine present in coffee stimulates the stomach acids which further causes the belly to bloat. So, cut down on caffeinating!

Dairy Products

Dairy products like milk, yogurt and cheese are also some of the foods that can end up bloating your belly. Especially if you are intolerant to lactose, there is no other reason behind that forever-puffed stomach than consumption of dairy.

Spicy Foods

You always need some spice in your life to keep going but that does not necessarily apply for your food as it can cause discomfort to your stomach and who wants that days before the wedding?

Alcohol

Celebrations without alcohol are unimaginable. But all it leaves you with is a thumping head, a bloated tummy and some more calories. Now, the choice is yours!

Beans

Beans can easily be added to almost any and every dish but they are not as easy to digest. They contain oligosaccharides, a complex sugar, that is hard to digest. A relatively better substitute to beans could be fish and chicken, as both are rich in protein.

Fried Foods

Those chicken nuggets, samosas and french fries are indeed savoury but don’t you dread imagining the amount of oil they soak when deep-fried? And then the indigestion and bloating they cause.

Carbonated Drinks

All sorts of fizzy beverages, be it soda, sparkling water or soft drinks can lead to bloating. And it happens so because the little bubbles present in the drink cause your belly to swell. So it’s best to replace these drinks with healthier options like ginger tea or peppermint tea.

Gums

Munching on that regular chewing gum is not doing any good to you but only causing you all sorts of bloating and gastric problems. That’s because each time you open your mouth to chew it, you are only swallowing air and inflating your tummy.

Salty Foods

Increased intake of Salty foods like chips, canned soup or lunch meats can cause water retention as they contain higher concentration of sodium in it. This further results in increased weight gain and bloating issues.

Cruciferous Vegetables

For all the times that you had been believing that all green vegetables are healthy and nutritive, you were wrong as there are always some exceptions. Cruciferous vegetables like kale, cauliflower and broccoli are stuffed with cellulose, a type of fibre which isn’t easy to break down and can cause bloating. So eliminate these from your bowl and include more of water-rich veggies like cucumber, celery and asparagus in your diet.
